The New Era of Television
I guess you have noticed recently on tv that more tv programming is going into what they call reality tv shows. We use to be able to sit down and relax to get away from reality but to get into the world of imagination. Like we use to want our family to be more like Leave It To Beaver, Father Knows Best, or Ozzie and Harriet. Or imagine ourselves having them as our parents. We would tune in each week to get a laugh watching Lucy in her redhair schemes, or watch Carol Burnett and her guest with their crazy jokes. I use to sit down to get away from reality, to go into that place where we can forget our troubles for a hour or so. Now you sit down and all you get is mainly reality shows like American Idol, The Bachelor,Wife Swap,Dancing With The Stars,My Fair Brady,Breaking Bonaduce,the list goes on. And then there is more news magazine programing, and your talk shows where they talk about reality subjects like on Dr. Phil,Oprah,Maury,Jerry Springer,etc. Where has the imagine gone? Are they trying to take that away from us? We need some relaxion to get away from the everyday troubles in our lives and sit down and get away into that imagery world. Bring back the old type of tv programming. Our kids are growing up with reality TV instead of the kind of tv programming we use to have that took you back and let your imagines go and something you could call entertainment. |
