Looking Back to My School Days
I remember my days when I took drivers ed., this goes back to the 1970's, I was the only girl in a class of about 6 boys. I took it as part of a school course offered. I was ridiculed being that I was the only girl with all males. You know how that is, the boys thought they were the best drivers. I had a male teacher, his name was Mr. Miller, he was a tough teacher who made sure you paid attention and went over the material and over it til you got it. He kept the boys in their place with me, made sure I didn't get beaten too bad with their remarks. We all liked it when we went for our driving lessons, that gave us a chance to get away from class. He was a very good teacher, I also had him for my Math teacher and my science teacher at one time. He was a big guy who wore his hair like a crew cut. He could be scary at times, sometimes I would feel intimidated. I can remember also having my share of crushes for teachers. I had this crush for this handsome Science teacher we had. He was the new teacher in the school, and about every girl in class had a crush on him. He had a nice smile and red hair. He was a shy teacher. He was well liked. I was typically shy, I hated to raise my hand in class or to be called on in class. I found it hard to make friends. There was 3 groups:the snobs,the popular, and the squares( I guess that is the word I'm looking for). I guess you could say I was in the square group. It was hard for me to find a place to fit in. Now, you wouldn't recognize me, I'm still square I guess, but I'm not that shy girl. I have learned to overcome that by getting involved in more activities. Please share some of your school memories. It makes me wish we could all go back to those days. We had our fun. Kids now don't realize what they missed. |
